Ethiopian singer Teddy Afro announced the cancellation of his Ethiopian version
of World cup anthem and called on his fans to boycott Coca-Cola products. Teddy
said in a statement that he invested his time, energy, and artistic wisdom to
his level best in his bid to achieve the best possible TV production called
“Togetherness”. However the company refused to release his song as an
Ethiopian version of World Cup Anthem On the other hand, reliable sources close
to Coca Cola Company told awramba times that the anthem sung by Teddy Afro has
failed to impress Coca Cola and the soccer fans in Ethiopia and that was the
reason behind the cancellation. Last January, Bedele brewery, Heineken NV’s
subsidiary in Ethiopia had officially cancelled Teddy Afro’s
nationwide “Journey of Love” Concert after thousands of activists from
the Oromo ethnic group called on Bedele brewery to stop sponsoring Tewodros
Kassahun’s nationwide tour. Source (
