Voter registration is underway in Ethiopia for southern Sudan referendum

Voter registration is underway in Ethiopia for Southern Sudanese populations, the Southern Sudan Referendum Commission (SSRC) has announced. In a press release it sent to ERTA on Wednesday, SSRC said Ethiopia in one of eight countries where Out ofCountry Voting (OVC) is taking place for the 2011 Southern Sudan Referendum.
It said to be able to vote in January 2011, Southern Sudanese people must register in advance. It said registration is underway in Addis Ababa city as well as in Gambella and Asossa towns of Ethiopia from 15 November to 01 December 2010. The referendum centers are open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Saturday and from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm Sundays. Only eligible Southern Sudanese people will be allowed to register and vote.
